You may think that all you need to do to have a healthy immune system is everything I already listed. However, there are other things that your immune system needs to stay strong.
Instead of relying on medication to fix a problem once it has begun, it would be wiser to strengthen your immune system so you do not get sick in the first place. Eating foods rich in vitamin C along with magnesium and calcium helps your body resist infections. Citrus fruits can be detrimental for individuals who suffer from heartburn because of their acidic nature. However, there are other foods that are just as high as or higher in vitamin C than citrus. Blackcurrants and strawberries are higher in vitamin C than citrus fruits. Many vegetables are also high in vitamin C and other nutrients that your body needs to stay healthy. Research has shown that our bodies actually need around 1000 mg of vitamin C a day to ward off illness. Your body absorbs nutrients faster and better when obtained through foods than through supplements.
For a healthy immune system what you don’t eat can be as important as what you do eat.
