Cheap Weights for Working Out

For those that find themselves working out each day, doing your calisthenics or following your DVD’s, don’t you think it’s time you stepped it up and started using weights? For many of us that rent our DVDs from the library or do calisthenics because we can’t afford to go to the gym getting weights may be out of our budget. Here you will find a list of ways you can acquire weights and also included are some directions for making your own.

If you need some weights the first and easiest method is to use a couple of water bottles. If you have the one liter/ quart size this will add about two pounds into each hand. The next step would be to create your own weights. Now one could go collect some rocks from around the house or out in the woods but those don’t usually treat the floors very nicely. To make your own weights you can use a variety of weight items but in addition to this you will need some duct tape. Yes duct tape it solves almost anything. One good source of weight is rice. the best choice if you are going to use a grain as your weight is to use something the family will eat. These weights don’t last for ever so eventually they can be consumed. make sure you protect the bag of rice with plenty of duct tape to make sure you do not spill it. As you do this, also make sure to create a handle, yes out of duct tape. This will help because it can be hard to grip the bag if it is a five pound bag. You are ready to work out.

In addition to making your own weights you can visit second hand stores or garage sales. Here you can find weight sets that sat in someones basement for years until they finally got rid of them, often never used.
